FAQs
Below are the most frequently asked questions we hear at Tan’s Auto Detailing.
How long does it take for a full exterior and interior detail?
Usually, 3-5 hours depending a lot on the condition and size of the vehicle, if the vehicle needs shampooing and pet hair removal it will be closer to the 5-hour mark. Just Interiors usually take 2-3 hours and just exteriors usually take about an hour and a half to 2 hours. Buff and polishes usually add an additional 1-2 hours to this.
Where are you located?
I’m located in Boise, ID. But I service all across Ada County area.
What if I’m outside of your normal service area?
I will drive pretty far (up to an hour) for detailing if the job is big enough. (full detail, with buff and polish for example) and if my schedule can accommodate the drive time. If it’s a smaller job I either won’t be able to do it or I have to charge a little extra.
Are you certified? / Is there a certification required for detailing?
I did take a detailing class when I was starting off but they did not give out certifications because there is no law requiring or any logical point on giving out a certification. This is a big misconception with detailing, no certification is required. Some places sell certifications online but these are normally either a scam or someone just trying to use it as a selling point to their customers. Unlike becoming a personal trainer, chef, security guard, and so on, there is no law requiring certification for vehicle detailing services.
How much experience do you have? / How long have you been detailing professionally for?
I’ve been detailing professionally full time for 2 years now and have done hundreds of vehicles. All my employees have been trained by me personally. Aside from hands-on experience I also spend a lot of my free time researching new equipment and products and trying to further educate myself to become an even better detailer.
What will the buff and polish get out? Will it get out scratches and oxidation?
Every vehicle is different and I can never give you a 100% yes or no on if a scratch or other paint imperfection will get removed. But typically when I am using my most abrasive compounding polish the following gets removed:
- Oxidation
- Minor scratches
- Swirl marks
- Other paint (someone hitting your car and rubbing their paint on yours for example.)
Do you have deals for multiple vehicles?
Yes, I deduct $15 off each vehicle when you schedule more than one.
Do you offer discounts?
YES! 10% off for all (current or retired) military and police officers.
